El Cerrito

 

Throughout the 1950s, Caracas becomes the city where the imaginings of modern architecture seem to be possible. Armando Planchart, a prosperous businessman, and his wife Anala, decide to build their new house. For that purpose, they contact renowned Italian architect Gio Ponti. Initially, he rejects the job, but after a trip to Venezuela, Ponti falls in love with the country forever. The Villa Planchart would become his masterpiece.

 

El Cerrito is a documentary by Juan Andrés Bello, based on the book El Cerrito, la obra maestra de Gio Ponti (El Cerrito, Gio Ponti’s masterpiece) written by Hannia Gómez. It was produced by Producciones Triana, with the participation of the Consejo Nacional de la Cultura, Centro Nacional Autónomo de Cinematografía, Fundación Anala y Armando Planchart and Explorart Films.
